History
In 1924, a group of postal employees met in the basement of the downtown Knoxville Post Office. This visionary group recognized the importance of the credit union movement and became the first members/owners of the Knoxville Post Office Credit Union. As charter members, they organized the credit union using the basic concept of a cooperative, non-profit financial institution. Member-owned and guided by a member-elected, volunteer Board of Directors, KPOCU's purpose was to provide its members with quality financial services. The credit union promoted the importance of savings and provided loans at affordable rates of interest. Today, as Tennessee's oldest existing credit union, KPOCU is proud of its strong, stable heritage and tradition of quality service.
